Visitors to Motorcycle Live 2011, the UK’s biggest and most prestigious motorcycle and scooter show, will see the full 2012 BMW Motorrad range for the first time on British soil, including the new S 1000 RR and BMW’s first ever maxi-scooters. Those attending the event, which runs from 19-27 November at the NEC in Birmingham, will also have the opportunity to meet racers from the BMW Motorrad World Superbike racers, including British stars Leon Haslam and James Toseland, as well as Richard Cooper and Barry Burrell from the Buildbase BMW Motorrad British Superbike team.
BMW Motorrad’s 500-square-metre stand will be the manufacturer’s biggest ever at Motorcycle Live, with the stunning new BMW S 1000 RR taking centre stage. The new 193bhp RR has a refined electronics package, an improved midrange, revised suspension making it even more aglie and has restyled, more dynamic bodywork.
The all-new C 600 Sport and C 650 GT maxi-scooters will also be on display for the first time in the UK. These nimble and very capable alternatives for urban mobility combine a frugal, yet punchy, parallel twin motor with smooth CVT transmission and outstanding practical touches, including generous storage space, year-round weather protection and integrated ABS.
The unstoppable, legendary BMW GS range is being further expanded in 2012, with five new models, ranging from 650cc to 1200cc, added to the already impressive line-up. Adventure-seekers will love the new single-cylinder G 650 GS Sertão, which transforms the already capable G 650 GS into a consummate lightweight off-road adventure bike.
2012 also brings two new special edition Boxer-powered machines: the retro-inspired R 1200 GS Rallye, with its classic Dakar Racer paint scheme, and the subtle new R 1200 GS Adventure Triple Black. Further new additions are the striking new blue and white F 800 GS Trophy and the tasteful F 800 GS Triple Black special editions.
Richard Cooper’s Superstock championship-winning BMW S 1000 RR race bike and Mattie Griffin’s customised F 800 R stunt bike will also be featured on the BMW Motorrad stand, alongside Kevin & Julia Sanders’ Guinness World Record-holding Trans-Americas R 1150 GS.
In addition to the 2012 model range, a selection of exciting new BMW Rider Equipment and BMW Motorcycle Accessories will be on display, including a new range of RR-inspired road and track leathers, all-weather textile kit, helmets, gloves, luggage and more.
Experts and instructors from BMW Tours, BMW Off Road Skills and BMW Rider Training will also be on hand to discuss, and offer advice on, the recently-announced 2012 programme. Visitors will even have the opportunity to take home a hot-off-the-press 2012 World of BMW Activity Brochure, packed full of incredible adventures, experiences, track activities and riding courses.
The BMW Motorrad stand, number R730 located in Hall 3A, as ever, will be staffed entirely by experienced motorcycle enthusiasts from across the BMW Group, who will be on hand to answer questions about motorcycles, finance, aftersales support, accessories and products.
