Audi has produced the highest powered sport saloon in the premium segment with the arrival of the new Audi S8 plus. Its 4.0-litre TFSI petrol engine produces an impressive 605hp and 700Nm of torque, this raised to 750Nm on overboost. This result of this power is a 0 to 100km/h time of just 3.8 seconds. Key to the car’s performance is its lightweight design, the S8’s body is made almost entirely of aluminium. It’s based on the Audi Space Frame which weighs just 231 kilograms. The engine’s power is transferred to the wheels through an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and quattro drivetrain with a sport differential.
Just some of the standard equipment on the new S8 plus includes, ambient lighting, full-leather interior package, Alcantara package, power-assisted door closing and a DVD/CD changer. Pricing and full specification details will be announced in September when the car will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
