Mercedes-Benz is continuing to exert downwards price pressure with the announcement that their all new B-Class and M-Class models will be launched on the Irish market with increased levels of specification and prices reduced by 11% and 15% respectively.
The new B-Class, which makes its debut in January 2012, will come on the market at EUR28,850 (ex works) for the entry level B180 CDI BlueEfficiency. Billed as the model likely to account for the majority of B-Class sales in Ireland, it will have the added appeal of road tax at just EUR104 per annum. Arriving one month later will be a B180 petrol BlueEfficiency version at EUR29,400.
In March, the all new M-Class makes its appearance, the first to arrive being the M250 CDI BlueTEC at EUR69,900 (ex works) – a figure 15 percent lower than the outgoing entry level diesel. Road tax will be a best-in-class EUR447 per annum. Second M-Class to arrive bearing a similarly reduced price will be the M350 CDI BlueTEC at EUR74,900 with road tax of EUR630 per annum.
Commenting, their sales manager Ciaran Allen said that Mercedes-Benz’s continuing commitment to lower prices underlines their determination to maintain a competitive position in the face of difficult economic conditions in Ireland.
