Details have emerged of Audi’s latest RS4 high performance model. This new Avant RS4 will utilise the same 4.2l petrol V8 that’s currently in the RS5. It will produce 450hp and 430Nm of torque to deliver a truly sporting drive combining Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive. The new RS4 will be capable of a 0 to 100km/h time of just 4.7 seconds, and go on to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. The RS4 will harness all this power through a seven-speed S-tronic transmission which contains dual clutches for instant gear changes.
The Quattro all-wheel-drive system has a 40:60 ratio which is rear-biased to favour handling. There is an option of having a sport differential which actively distributes the power between the rear wheels. The RS4 will come as standard on 19” ten-spoke forged aluminium wheels, with 20” five-spoke wheels available as an optional extra. Sitting behind these wheels are large 365mm brake discs up-front, with carbon fibre ceramic discs optional.
The interior of the RS4 will be finished with high quality materials such as leather and Alcantara. Prices for the car will be announced closer to its launch date later this year.
