Volkswagen are set to unveil their fastest, most powerful Golf Cabriolet next week at the Geneva Motor Show. This Golf GTI Cabriolet will provide wind in the hair motoring with the performance of a GTI. The fabric roof can be folded away at the touch of a switch whilst on the move, at speeds of up to 29 km/h. There’s no mistaking this GTI version of the Golf Cabriolet, with its deep honeycomb air dam and distinctive vertical fog lights. It sits low on 17” Monza alloys, whilst the interior has sports seats and a bespoke GTI multifunction leather steering wheel.
The GTI Cabriolet is powered by the same 2.0 l turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that’s in its hardtop sibling. It delivers 210hp and 280Nm of torque through a six-speed manual or dual-clutch dsg gearbox. An electronic differential is fitted as standard to aid the transfer of power to the front wheels.
Prices will be announced closer to the car’s launch towards the end of summer.
