Opel has revealed some images and details of its new A-segment car, the all-new Adam, which has been named after Opel’s founder. The Adam will be revealed at this September’s Paris Motor Show, with first deliveries due in early 2013. It’s a striking looking three-door car with seating for four people. From launch customers will have the choice of three petrol engines to power their Adam, a 1.2-litre 70hp engine, a 1.4-litre 87hp and a 1.4-litre 100hp variant, all of which will utilise a five-speed manual transmission. Opel have certainly come up with unusual names for its three varying trim levels, JAM, GLAM and SLAM each offer varying colours and equipment. There is a virtually unlimited combination of colours available for the exterior and interior as well as the fabric inside the car. The exterior styling is somewhat unique, with the car’s name placed at the end of the chrome signature window moulding on the rear pillar. Opel has a new infotainment system available in the Adam which allows the user to integrate their smartphone with the seven inch colour touch screen. Standard equipment across the range includes ESP and Hill Start Assist. There’s also front, side and head curtain airbags and also dual seat belt pre-tensioners fitted as standard.
