Volkswagen Ireland has been announced as the top-selling passenger car brand in the country, with 482 new registrations for the month of August. This puts Volkswagen in the number one position with a 15.5 per cent market share. To date Volkswagen has registered 9,357 vehicles this year, representing a market share of 12.6 per cent, this is a 0.3 per cent increase on 2011 and results in Volkswagen becoming the top-selling car brand in Ireland, for the first time in recent history. Commenting on the announcement, John Donegan, Head of Sales and Marketing, Volkswagen Ireland said, “August is a traditionally tough month in the motor industry yet we are delighted to have enjoyed a strong performance and to have taken the number one spot, not only for the month, but for the Year-to-Date also. This reflects very positively on the commitment and support that we receive from our network of dealers and on our strong retail offers and of course, our excellent product.”
