Audi has announced some details of its all-new Audi RS6 Avant, more powerful than ever, it’s capable of reaching 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds. The heart of the RS6 lies under the bonnet, the 5.2-litre V10 engine from its predecessor has been replaced with a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 TFSI petrol engine. It produces a hefty 560hp and a vigorous 700Nm of torque, available between 1,750 and 5,500 rpm. All this power is transferred via an eight-speed tiptronic transmission to Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive complete with a sport differential. The RS6 is also fitted with adaptive air suspension as standard.
The weight of the RS6 Avant has seen a reduction of approximately 100 kilograms over its predecessor, with roughly 20 per cent aluminium comprising the body. A new feature on board is the DIS shift light, green Green segments are illuminated as revs increase. The bar turns red and begins to blink when revs approach the red line. Displays for the gear selected, boost pressure, oil temperature and a digital speedometer round out the RS 6-specific driver information system.
The new Audi RS6 will go on sale in the New Year, with first deliveries expected in the summer. Prices and full specification will be confirmed closer to the car’s launch.
