McLaren fans have yet another model to lust after with the McLaren Special Operations department producing a new 650S Can-Am edition to mark the 50th anniversary of the series next year. With this project MSO pay tribute to the cars of that era using red, orange, and onyx black paint schemes similar to the liveries used. MSO opted for a carbon-fiber bonnet, front wings, retractable hardtop, tonneau cover, and air brake. There is also a quad stainless steel exhaust system tuned to give these models their own distinctive sound.

The interior has sport seats with Alcantara leather, carbon-fiber accents, and a plaque on the driver’s door signalling the number of each model. The forged alloy wheel design is ’60s racing retro but the finish is a modern gloss-black shade and secured with titanium bolts. The engine is the powerhouse used by the 650S, a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 making 641 hp. Just 50 examples will be sold worldwide, and they are due to arrive next spring. Euro pricing has yet to be announced but they won’t be cheap. Like many of these limited edition models they can prove to be worthwhile investments.
