Citroën have revealed the New C4 X model which features a unique, elegant design approach that incorporates fastback elegance with SUV attitude. This New C4 X will sit between the C4 and C5 X in the current Citroën line-up and offers notable increases in both length and boot capacity versus the current C4 model. Following in the footsteps of the stylish New Citroën C5 X, the design of this C4 X challenges the traditional definition of a compact car by offering a unique crossover design which combines an elegant fastback silhouette with a modern SUV attitude. The appeal of practicality and spaciousness is also evident from the 4-door design, generous rear legroom and impressive boot space on offer. The C4 X will be built on the Stellantis CMP platform as per its current C4 sibling but at 4600 mm long, the New C4 X gains 240mm in length and 130 litres of additional boot capacity versus the existing C4 to boast an impressive boot space of 510 litres.

On the outside, the familiar front-end incorporates Citroën’s assertive rounded design signature. The high, horizontal bonnet features the trademark chrome chevrons that stretch across the width of the body, connecting with double-height front LED headlights. The design enhancements are more significant from the side and rear profile, as the dynamic roofline flows seamlessly from the top of the rear windscreen onto the top panel of the boot lid to create a fastback silhouette. The intelligently designed rear overhang disguises the increased vehicle length while the rear boot lid panel folds down towards the rear bumper in a seamless design with a softly integrated spoiler completing the fastback look. Distinctive new LED taillights are placed at either side of the boot opening which carry through the sculpted lines of the boot lid, pushing around the corners and along the sides of the car to complement the distinctive front headlights.

Inside, the C4 X gains a new level of connectivity via the intuitive next-generation MyCitroën Drive Plus infotainment interface, first seen on the Citroën C5 X. This 10” HD interface is fully customised via the use of widgets and integrates seamlessly with My Citroën Play (featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and My Citroën Drive which provides real time traffic updates, weather information, locations and pricing for fuel station and speed camera alerts. Further integration is possible via the My Citroën App which updates users on the battery status of their vehicle and allows for cabin pre-conditioning. The C4 X will come as standard with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions suspension and Advanced Comfort Seats to ensure optimal Citroën comfort, while offering up to 20 Citroën Advanced Driver Assistance Systems including Active Safety Brake and Highway Driver Assist. Meanwhile, the colour head up display and 360-degree vision camera further enhance comfort and reduce stress.

The C4 X will be available in Ireland exclusively as an all-electric model but Petrol and Diesel versions will also be produced for other markets. Thanks to its smooth, aerodynamic shape the ë-C4 X offers an impressive WLTP range of up to 360 km. The ë-C4 X will be powered by a 50 kWh battery pack and a 100 kW electric motor which provides 136 hp and 260 Nm of torque, a 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds (in Sport mode) and a top speed of 150 km/h. As with the ë-C4, regenerative braking enables battery recharge while three driving modes will be available (Eco, Normal or Sport) to allow for a customised driving experience.

Speaking today, Colin Sheridan MD of Citroën Ireland commented “The New ë-C4 X is an ideal solution for customers seeking unique design with a comfortable and spacious passenger experience thanks to outstanding rear leg room, generous 510-litre boot space and all-electric range of 360km. The ë-C4 X is our first electric only model offer and we have no doubt that this vehicle will contribute significantly to our brand presence and electric vehicle sales expansion over the coming years.”

The New ë-C4 X will arrive in Ireland in Q4 of this year with pricing and specification to be announced later this summer.
