Noel Doherty from Letterkenny has had his green fingered talents pay off this week as he was announced the winner of a Renault Fluence Z.E., after winning a selfie competition on social media. Renault Ireland teamed up once again with GIY to get the country growing and taking selfies with the food that they grow as part of a fundraising campaign for GROW HQ in Waterford. GROW HQ that is set to be the new home of GIY where people can learn about the GIY lifestyle by growing, cooking and eating home-grown food and it will also include a grow school, cookery school, café, farm shop and food gardens. The aim is to help over 500,000 people to live a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle in the coming five years.
Noel, who collected the keys to his Renault Fluence Z.E. this week, has been an avid gardener and follower of GIY for about 5 years and he was delighted to be announced as the winner:
“The Renault Fluence Z.E. will be my first electric vehicle but I have always been very environmentally aware so I’m really looking forward to taking it out for its first drive. Obviously I’m also very happy about the financial savings that I will make by driving an electric vehicle!”
