After bringing you news yesterday of Audis new 300hp S3, today we’re announcing details of the Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG, a beefed-up A-Class. Mercedes’s new hot-hatch certainly packs a punch, its 2.0-litre turbo-charged petrol engine produces an impressive 360hp and 450Nm of torque. In order to transfer all this power to the road the A 45 AMG utilises a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system which enables the car to accelerate to 100km/h from a standstill in just 4.6 seconds. It’s been fitted with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that has three driving programmes, a double-declutching function and Race Start for optimum acceleration.
As you can see from the first pictures this new AMG model looks the part. It has a sporty and muscular stance with AMG styling evident. The front view of the A 45 AMG is characterised by the AMG “twin blade” radiator grille and the cross strut in the AMG front apron, both painted in matt titanium grey. Striking black flicks surround the large cooling air intakes at the sides. An interesting side view is guaranteed by the AMG light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and the side sill panels with inserts in matt titanium grey. The AMG rear apron with its highlighted air outlet openings at the sides features a diffusor insert and trim in matt titanium grey. Two square, chrome-plated tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system with exhaust flap add an appropriately bold finishing touch. The interior features two race-style sports seats which are functional as well as looking the part.
The Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG will have its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, prices and specifications will be announced closer to its launch.
