Michelin’s new Pilot Sport 4 tyre has won the Auto Express Ultimate Tyre Test “by a clear margin” against competition from tyres submitted by eight other leading tyre manufacturers. Available in 22 of the most popular tyre sizes, the Pilot Sport 4 incorporates technologies developed from Michelin’s involvement in Formula E – the electric car racing series that takes place on real roads using a tyre size that relates to on-the-road cars.
Its ultra-responsive tread adapts to the road thanks to the interaction between architecture, tread pattern and compound to create the optimal contact patch at all times. Its new compound mix gives enhanced wet braking and maximum water evacuation whilst improving the tyre’s longevity, fuel efficiency and directional control.
