MINI JCW GP Sets The Pace

The mighty Megane RS Trophy has been knocked off its perch at the top of the rev.ie lap chart leader board. Until now, the Megane RS Trophy was the fastest hot hatch to lap Mondello Park’s National circuit, with a time of 1:07.56. This lap time has been annihilated by the blisteringly fast MINI John Cooper Works GP. This hardcore MINI is perfectly suited to the track thanks to its stiff chassis setup, complete with front and rear strut braces and coil-over suspension. The MINI JCW GP set an incredible lap time of just 1:05.83, a time that’s going to be extremely difficult for any hot hatch to beat.

Commenting on setting the pace in the MINI, rev.ie Motoring Editor and Irish Times Motoring Journalist Ian Beatty said, “The precise handling attributes of the MINI John Cooper Works GP, combined with the potent 218hp developed from its 1.6-litre engine, complete with twin-scroll turbo technology, enable the car to produce a lap time not previously seen for a hot hatch road-legal car.”
