This week we were treated to a brief drive in the new DS 5 which is now available to order in Ireland. As most know, DS is now a stand alone brand offering premium motoring at an affordable price. The DS 5 is defined by its avant-garde styling and it combines a the latest technologies with sublime interiors to leave you under no illusion that quality is at the forefront each and every DS. With a new stand-alone identity, thanks to the impressive new front end & numerous other revisions it wears the DS badge with purpose. Our test drive was enjoyable and the new trim levels and the latest Euro 6 engines work in harmony to make you feel special behind the wheel.
Buyers will be able to choose from two trim levels, Elegance & Prestige along with three BlueHDi Diesels and a Hybrid 4×4 drivetrain. If you like your cars a little more special or unique you can also opt for the DS 5 1955 Limited Edition. To mark 60 years since the original DS launch at the Paris motor show you can buy a Ink Blue body coloured DS 5, with unique 1955 badging. This model is based on the Elegance trim level and offers additional equipment as standard, including ‘Criollo’ semi-aniline ‘watch strap’ leather seats and DS LED Vision headlights. We loved this interior at yesterdays first drive. This 1955 Limited Edition with the latest BlueHDi 180 S&S EAT6 Auto powertrain, produces just 116g/km of CO2 emissions and is priced at €44,345. I think its fair to say these are exciting times for the DS brand.
With six new models planned by 2020 and new DS Stores about to be rolled out around the country purchasers are in for a real experience. Since Citroen launched the range with the DS3 back in 2010 they have went on to sell a staggering 550,000 units worldwide. The goal is to have 7 times the amount of current DS cars on Irish roads by 2020 and we wouldn’t bet against them. If you haven’t tested a DS ahed of your 152 purchase then you could be missing out.
