Volkswagen has released some images of its new Golf, due to arrive here this December. At first glance this seventh-generation Golf doesn’t look too dissimilar to the current sixth-generation variant. It’s said to offer more space, comfort and improved levels of safety over its predecessor. The key seller for the Irish market will no doubt be the common rail diesel model with 105hp, it offers an impressive 3.8l/100km combined fuel consumption and 99g/km of CO2 emissions. Three trim specifications will be available, Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. As a result of an increase in the Golf’s wheelbase (59mm) front and rear seat occupants are granted more interior space. Luggage space has seen an improvement too, with an additional 30 litres boot space compared to the sixt-generation Golf. With these improvements we’re sure the Golf is set to remain as Volkswagen’s best seller in Ireland. Prices will be announced closer to the car’s launch.
