We have a new leader of our hot hatch lapchart, the new SEAT Leon Cupra 280 has certainly impressed, setting a blistering laptime of 1:05.68. In doing so it knocks the MINI John Cooper Works GP off the top spot, which it has held for some time now. Powering the Leon Cupra is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 280hp and 350Nm of torque. Commenting on setting the Cupra’s laptime Ian Beatty said “I always knew the Cupra was going to be quick, its predecessor was in first position for a number of months, nonetheless I was pretty amazed when we set the laptime of 1:05.68 this is incredible for a standard road legal car on road tyres, this new Leon Cupra is an astounding piece of kit.”
